“The signals are dire for young Americans and their career prospects. Beginning in their teen years, youth labor force participation rates are at all-time lows. For college students, the gap between interest in internships and the availability of intern positions is the widest it has ever been, and grade inflation is eroding the traditional means by which students distinguish themselves. Without work or internship experience it is difficult for young graduates to compete for jobs. Meanwhile, AI is rapidly undermining the entry-level job market. These factors hinder young people’s ability to start careers, putting our talent development pipeline on the verge of collapse. We have a moral and economic imperative to save it.”
