Program Highlights

New York is Our Classroom

With New York City as their campus, students will have access to all that the City has to offer, attending field trips, site visits and special events traveling by bus, subway and local trains.

Industry-leading Faculty

NYC Summer Academy students are taught by New York Times journalists and other industry experts carefully selected by The School of The New York Times for their professional expertise, their interest in the subject matter, and their ability to teach and inspire our students.

Residential Students

Residential students stay in a dorm-like facility in the heart of New York City and are overseen by program staff. The location equips students with easy access to Central Park, Times Square, Columbus Circle and the Hudson River — the perfect starting point to explore everything New York has to offer. Students participate in a rich set of evening and weekend activities to complement the academic program.

Day Students

Day students commute to a campus on weekday mornings to participate in the academic program. Students have the option of staying for dinner and may choose to participate in evening and weekend activities.

"I really enjoy showing the students what it’s like to cover politics in New York City. They get to see how fun and exciting it is to be a reporter, and how hard we work to cover campaigns and city government so that New Yorkers are informed about issues they care about."
